Canned Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
- Onion 1 head
- Vegetable Oil 3 tablespoons
- Baking Tomatoes 20 oz
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Finely chop the onion and tomatoes (if you're up for it, peel them).
Step 2
Heat the oil in a pan, add the onion, and cook over low heat, stirring, for 5 minutes until it becomes soft. If you're cooking without onion, add the tomatoes right away and sauté them over low heat, mashing with a spatula for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Let the mixture cool, transfer it to a blender, and blend. Add sugar, salt, and blend again. Serve in a sauceboat or add to the main dish. Store the sauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
