Candied Nuts with Cayenne Pepper
Ingredients
- Sugar 0.7 cups
- Egg white 1 piece
- Ground Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
- Cayenne Pepper to taste
- Salt ½ teaspoon
- Hazelnut 5 oz
- Chopped almonds 5 oz
- Walnuts 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 300°F. Whisk the egg white with 1 tablespoon of water in a large bowl until lightly frothy. Then add the nut mixture and stir with a spatula to ensure all the nuts are evenly coated.
Step 2
In a bowl, mix together the sugar, salt, cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Pour this mixture over the nuts and mix well.
Step 3
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the nuts in a single even layer and place in the oven for 30 minutes. During baking, stir the nuts on the baking sheet a few times to prevent burning.
Step 4
Remove the baking sheet and let the nuts cool completely. Now you can transfer them to an airtight jar for long-term (if possible :)) storage.
