Ingredients

  • Butter 5 tablespoons
  • Brussels Sprouts 20 oz
  • Onion ½ head
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Meyer Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped almonds 0 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Rinse the Brussels sprouts well and remove any old leaves. In a pot, bring water to a boil and cook the sprouts until tender for about 3 minutes, being careful not to lose their color. Then quickly rinse under ice-cold water. Cut each sprout in half.

Step 2

Heat half of the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent for 4–5 minutes. Add the remaining butter and the Brussels sprouts. Increase the heat and sauté, stirring, for a few more minutes. Season with salt and pepper while cooking. Be careful not to overcook, as the sprouts may become slightly bitter.

Step 3

Remove from heat, add the lemon juice and half of the almonds. Season with salt and pepper and transfer to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with the remaining almonds and serve.
