Zebra Cake with Matsoni
Ingredients
- Chocolate eggs 5 pieces
- Sugar 1 cup
- Butter 5 oz
- Wheat Flour 2 cups
- Matsoni 1 cup
- Salt a pinch
- Activated Baking Soda a pinch
- Vanilla salt 1 teaspoon
- Cocoa Powder 1 tablespoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Beat the eggs with sugar, add vanilla sugar and salt.
Step 2
Slowly add melted butter to the eggs in a thin stream.
Step 3
Add baking soda to the matsoni (not extinguished), stir until the mixture doubles in volume. Add the matsoni to the egg-butter mixture and beat well.
Step 4
Add the flour. Mix until you achieve a batter consistency similar to thick sour cream. Divide the batter into two parts, adding cocoa to one part and optionally cinnamon to the other.
Step 5
Layer the dark and light batter alternately. Bake at 355°F for 40–50 minutes.
