Yogurt Cake with Cherry
Baking and Desserts • American
Description
This cake is very light and relatively low in calories. It is quite simple to prepare, however, to make it truly delicious, you need to know a few secrets. First, it is better to use chocolate cake layers — the flavor combination of cherry and chocolate is very successful. Second, use thick creamy yogurt, preferably with a cherry flavor. Third, the layers must be soaked with alcohol or fruit or berry compote; otherwise, the cake may turn out a bit dry.
Ingredients
- Sponge Cake Base 3 pieces
- 10% cream 5 fl oz
- Yogurt powder 20 oz
- Sugar 3 tablespoons
- Gelatin 0 oz
- Brandy 0 fl oz
- Cherry 20 oz
- Bitter 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
If you are using fresh cherries, wash the berries, remove the pits, and cut the berries in half. If you have frozen cherries, simply thaw them.
Step 2
Whip the cream with sugar until soft peaks form and mix with the yogurt.
Step 3
Soak the gelatin in half a glass of water, let it swell, then heat it until it completely dissolves, and after slightly cooling, pour it in a thin stream into the cream, mixing well.
Step 4
Lightly soak one of the layers with brandy. Place some cherries on top and a third of the cream mixture. Cover with the second layer — and again place cherries on top and spread with cream. Cover with the third layer, lightly soak it with brandy, and spread the remaining cream on top.
Step 5
Decorate the finished cake with cherries and grated chocolate. Place the cake in the refrigerator to set. It can be served after just a few hours.
