Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 20 oz
- Water 10 fl oz
- Dry yeast 0 oz
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Ocean salt 2 teaspoons
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Add dry yeast (if using fresh, use 15 g) and sugar to warm water. Stir and let sit for 5–10 minutes. The yeast should 'start working.'

Sift the flour into a bowl and add salt.
Step 3
Gradually add the water with yeast and start kneading the dough. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until it becomes elastic and velvety. You can use a mixer with a dough hook.
Step 4
Take a clean deep bowl, brush it with olive oil, and transfer the prepared dough (I do this so the dough doesn't stick to the bowl and is easier to remove). Cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place until it doubles in size.
Step 5
When the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air and knead for 30 seconds. If you are making spiced bread, you can add any spices and ingredients at this stage. Take a loaf pan, you can also bake without a pan, dust it with flour, and transfer the dough into it. Cover with a towel. Place in a warm place until the bread rises again to double its size.
Step 6
Preheat the oven to 390°F. Brush the bread with egg using a brush. Carefully place the bread in the oven. Bake for 35–45 minutes. If the top starts to burn but the bread needs another 15–20 minutes to cook, reduce the temperature to 355°F. You can check for doneness by tapping the bottom of the bread—if it sounds hollow, the bread is done; if not, continue baking.
Step 7
Once the bread is done, place it on a rack and let it cool for 30 minutes.
