Viennese Apple Strudel with Cinnamon
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Vegetable Oil 3 tablespoons
- Water 5 fl oz
- Pickled Apples 15 oz
- Sugar 1 teaspoon
- Raisins 4 tablespoons
- Butter 0 oz
- Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Soak the raisins.
Step 2
Pour the flour into a large bowl. Make a well in the flour and add the vegetable oil and warm water. Knead the dough by hand until it becomes firm.
Step 3
Place the dough in another bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 25 minutes.
Step 4
Preheat the oven to 355°F. Peel the apples, remove the cores, and slice them.
Step 5
Mix the raisins, sugar, apples, and cinnamon.
Step 6
Place the dough on a floured kitchen towel and roll it out as thin as possible using a rolling pin. Carefully stretch the dough by hand until it is as thin as paper (you should be able to see the pattern of the towel through the dough).
Step 7
Evenly distribute the apple mixture over the dough.
Step 8
Using the kitchen towel, carefully roll up the strudel. Brush it with butter.
Step 9
Place the strudel in the oven. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Every 7 minutes, open the oven and brush the strudel with butter.
Step 10
Serve dusted with powdered sugar.
