Vegan Striped Beetroot Bread
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 20 oz
- Water 5 fl oz
- Beetroot 5 fl oz
- Salt 0 oz
- Dry yeast 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Dissolve 5 grams of yeast in the water and the same amount in the beetroot juice. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
Step 2
In a bowl, mix 250 grams of flour, the water with yeast, and 5 grams of salt. Knead the dough for at least 10 minutes, then transfer it to an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise.
Step 3
In another bowl, mix the remaining half of the flour and salt with the beetroot juice and yeast. Knead the dough for another 10 minutes, then transfer it to an oiled bowl and cover with a towel.
Step 4
Let both doughs rise for about 1 hour.
Step 5
Divide each piece of dough in half and roll them out into equal-sized rectangles.
Step 6
Place a rectangle of regular dough first, then beetroot dough, then again regular and beetroot. Roll it into a neat log and pinch the edges to resemble a loaf.
Step 7
Transfer to an oiled baking sheet, seam side down, and let it rise covered with a towel for another 1 hour.
Step 8
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 390°F.
Step 9
Bake the bread for 40–50 minutes until done. Cool and serve.
