Vanilla Buttons
Ingredients
- Butter 5 oz
- Semi-soft cream cheese 5 oz
- Sugar 1 cup
- Egg white 1 piece
- Vanillin 1 teaspoon
- Wheat Flour 2¾ cups
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Salt ¼ teaspoon
- Red Food Coloring to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Beat the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, then add the vanillin and beat until smooth.
Step 2
Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamy mixture. Knead the dough and divide it into 2 parts, adding different colored food coloring to each. Wrap each piece of dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 345°F. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it out on a floured board. Cut out small balls using a button-shaped cutter (with 4 and 2 holes), pressing lightly to imprint the design.
Step 4
Place the buttons on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 15 minutes before baking. Bake in the oven for 8–10 minutes. Cool and serve with tea.
