Ingredients
- Pea shoots 1½ cups
- Pearl barley 2 tablespoons
- Onion 1 head
- Bacon 5 oz
- Allspice berries to taste
- Bay leaf to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Sort the pearl barley and peas, rinse, cover with water (2–2.5 liters), and cook until the grains are soft.
Step 2
Peel, wash, and finely chop the onion.
Step 3
Fry until golden with the chopped bacon and add to the soup along with the bay leaf and allspice 15–20 minutes before it is ready.
