Upside-Down Plum and Walnut Pie

Ingredients

  • Butter 5 oz
  • Sugar 2 cups
  • Wheat Flour 10 oz
  • Milk 5 fl oz
  • Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
  • Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
  • Plums 20 oz
  • Walnuts 2 tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cut the plums in half and remove the pits.

Step 2

Crush the walnuts.

Step 3

In a skillet (or a large saucepan that can be placed in the oven), melt 50 grams of butter.

Step 4

Add 100 grams of sugar and start stirring quickly to prevent the sugar from crystallizing.

Step 5

Place the plums cut side down and cook on high heat for 5 minutes.

Step 6

In the gaps between the plums, add the crushed walnuts.

Step 7

For the batter: sift the flour with the baking powder and sugar.

Step 8

Melt the remaining butter and add the milk to it.

Step 9

Gradually add the flour mixture to the milk and egg mixture and stir; if there are no lumps, beat with a mixer.

Step 10

*The batter should have a consistency similar to thick sour cream.

Step 11

Pour the batter over the plums and bake in the oven for 25 minutes at 355°F.
