Tuscan Biscotti
Ingredients
- Ground Almonds 0 oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Sugar ½ cup
- Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
- Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
- Nutmeg 0.1 teaspoons
- Salt to taste
- Orange zest 2 teaspoons
- Wheat Flour 2⅖ cups
- Baking Powder 1½ teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Whisk the softened butter with sugar until the crystals dissolve.
Step 2
Beat the eggs, then add the vanilla extract and zest.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
Step 4
Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mix well, then add the ground almonds.
Step 5
Knead the dough and shape it into a loaf.
Step 6
Place the loaf on a greased baking sheet and bake at 355°F for about 25 minutes, until the surface is light brown and the inside is firm.
Step 7
Transfer the loaf to a wire rack, let it cool, then slice diagonally into pieces about 1 cm thick.
Step 8
Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for about 5–10 minutes.
Step 9
If you want the cookies to be crispy, bake the biscotti on both sides; if you prefer them soft, bake on one side only.
