Description

Turkish Rice Pudding (Sütlaç)

Ingredients

  • Milk 0 qt
  • Water 15 fl oz
  • Rice 3 tablespoons
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Corn Starch 3 tablespoons
  • Whole egg 2 pieces
  • Vanillin to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Rinse the rice and cook it in 300 ml of water, then drain it in a colander. Whisk the egg yolks with sugar, gradually adding the milk, then transfer the mixture to a saucepan and bring it to a boil over low heat. Add the rice, vanilla, and cornstarch that has been dissolved in water. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into ceramic molds, preheat the oven to 390°F. Place the molds on a baking tray, pour in water, and place on the top shelf, cooking for 15–20 minutes. Bake until a crust forms. Cool down.

Step 3

Then place the finished puddings in the refrigerator for about three hours, and before serving, sprinkle with cinnamon.
