Toast with Maple Syrup, Cinnamon, Citrus, and Crème Fraîche
Ingredients
- Oranges 1 piece
- Sugar 2 tablespoons
- Vanilla ½ pod
- Butter 5 oz
- Ground Cinnamon 1¼ teaspoons
- Sea Salt to taste
- Maple syrup 10 fl oz
- Brioche 2 pieces
- Crème fraîche 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 230˚C (450˚F). Place the orange slices and sugar in a small bowl. Extract the vanilla seeds from the pod and combine them with the oranges; keep the pod. Mix the sugar with the oranges and vanilla seeds.
Step 2
In a medium bowl, mix the vegetable oil, cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. Spread the aromatic butter mixture on one side of each slice of brioche.
Step 3
Transfer the brioche slices to a rimmed baking sheet and bake until golden brown (the bottoms should become very crispy) for 8–10 minutes.
Step 4
Arrange the slices on plates with the buttered side down. Top with crème fraîche and orange slices. Drizzle with the remaining maple syrup and sprinkle with salt.
