Description
Savory fillings (mix into the dough): fried crispy onions, cumin, red pepper, sunflower seeds, dill, etc. Sweet fillings (dip before baking): sugar with grated lemon zest, cinnamon, and more.
Ingredients
- Apple Wine 5 fl oz
- Vegetable Oil 5 fl oz
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Wheat Flour 20 oz
- Salt to taste
- Sunflower Seeds to taste
- Sugar 2 tablespoons
- Citrus Zest Mix to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Whisk together all ingredients except for the flour.
Step 2
Gradually add the flour and knead the dough.
Step 3
When it stops sticking to your hands, place it on the table and knead the dough like playdough, but not too stiff.
Step 4
Options for shaping the bagels. Original: roll the dough into sausages about 1 cm in diameter and 10 cm long and pinch the ends together. Simpler: roll the dough to about 1 cm thick, cut out bagels with a glass, and for example, a ring (with holes in the middle).
Step 5
You can add the filling in two ways: mix it directly into the dough or dip the bagels into a bowl with the filling.
Step 6
Place the taralli on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes at 340°F.
