Sweet Dough Donuts
Ingredients
- Milk 15 fl oz
- Sugar 2 tablespoons
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Wheat Flour 15 oz
- Dry yeast 1 tablespoon
- Vanillin to taste
- Margarine 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In warm milk, add sugar and yeast. Stir and let the yeast 'activate' for about 15 minutes. Now add the margarine (it can be at room temperature or melted), salt, and vanillin. Whisk everything thoroughly.
Step 2
Then add the flour and knead the dough. The dough should be moderately soft, not too sticky or too dense. Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise for 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
Step 3
Roll out the risen dough to a thickness of 1 cm and cut out circles. If you want large donuts, use a glass; for smaller ones, use a shot glass. Let the donuts rise until they double in size.
Step 4
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet (enough for the donuts to float without touching the bottom) until hot. Fry on moderate heat on both sides until golden brown.
Step 5
Place the finished donuts on paper towels and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
