Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 20 oz
- Brown Sugar 3 tablespoons
- Salt to taste
- Milk 5 fl oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
- Powdered Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Rum 1 tablespoon
- Dried Turkey 5 oz
- Citrus Zest Mix 2 tablespoons
- Marzipan 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Mix the yeast, powdered sugar, 125 g of flour, and milk. Cover and let sit in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 2
Beat the eggs.
Step 3
Add the remaining flour, salt, brown sugar, melted butter, rum, and 1 egg. Knead the dough, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Step 4
Add the dried fruits and lemon zest. Mix the dough thoroughly.
Step 5
Place on a floured surface, divide into 2 parts, and shape into ovals about 1.5 cm thick.
Step 6
Roll out the marzipan into two strips the length of the loaves. Use a rolling pin to mark a boundary one third of the way along each oval. Place the marzipan in the indentation made by the rolling pin, fold the dough towards yourself. Seal the edges by brushing them with the remaining beaten egg.
Step 7
Place the loaves on a buttered baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
Step 8
Preheat the oven to 355°F. Brush the dough with beaten egg and bake for 30 minutes.
Step 9
Melt the butter, brush the finished bread, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
