Description
Stroopwafels are delicious Dutch cookies made from two thin waffles filled with a warm caramel syrup. They are perfect for enjoying with coffee or tea, and can be found in many bakeries and cafes across the country.
Ingredients
- Butter 10 oz
- Wheat Flour 20 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Milk 0 fl oz
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Dry yeast 1 tablespoon
- Brown Sugar 5 oz
- Light Molasses 10 oz
- Ground Cinnamon 1 tablespoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Separate 250 g of butter and melt it. Pour the slightly cooled melted butter into a deep bowl, add flour, sugar, milk, yeast, and an egg. Knead the buttery dough.
Step 2
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for 1–2 minutes. Shape it into a ball and place it in a bowl. Cover it with a cloth and let it rise for 40 minutes.
Step 3
Preheat the waffle maker. Take the batter and divide it into pieces about 5 cm in diameter. Bake the pieces into waffles.
Step 4
Trim the waffles using a round metal ring with sharp edges.
Step 5
In a deep non-stick skillet, melt the sugar with the molasses, then add the remaining butter and cinnamon. Heat while stirring until a caramel sauce forms. Layer the waffles with the caramel sauce.
