Strawberries with port wine sauce
Ingredients
- Red port 10 fl oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Strawberry 30 oz

Step 1
Pour the port wine into a deep, heavy-bottomed saucepan, add the sugar, and place it over medium heat. Stirring the port wine and sugar, wait until the sugar completely dissolves in the wine. Then reduce the heat and simmer the mixture for about twenty minutes, until the sauce thickens enough to drip from a spoon in heavy crimson drops.
Step 2
Pour the sauce into a sauceboat and let it cool to room temperature for about half an hour. Serve the finished sauce with fresh strawberries, which should be dipped into the thickened port wine and enjoyed.
