  • Red Lentils 1 cup
  • Water to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Rinse the lentils in cold water and dry them. Repeat this process 2 more times. Place the lentils in a glass bowl, pour in cold water until they are completely covered. Cover the bowl with cheesecloth (a paper towel can also be used) and secure it with a rubber band. Leave for 12 hours.

Step 2

Drain the water from the lentils, cover again, and let them sit at room temperature. Rinse the lentils and drain the water 1 or 2 times a day, repeating until the lentils sprout (this will take 1-2 days).

Step 3

The lentils can be prepared up to five days before serving. Store in a cool place.
