Sponge Cake with Chocolate Sauce
Ingredients
- Sugar 0 oz
- Milk 5 fl oz
- Farm fresh eggs 3 pieces
- Vegetable Oil 5 fl oz
- Baking Powder ½ tablespoon
- Vanilla salt to taste
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Cocoa Powder 1 tablespoon
- Liquid dark chocolate 0 oz
- Coconut flakes to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
For the sponge cake: place the eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar in a bowl and beat at high speed with a mixer for 3 minutes.
Step 2
Add the milk and continue beating at high speed with the mixer for another 3 minutes.
Step 3
Add the milk, vegetable oil, baking powder, and flour.
Step 4
Mix with the mixer until smooth.
Step 5
Pour into a mold lined with greased parchment paper.
Step 6
Bake at 180°C for 30 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.
Step 7
Invert the cake and remove the paper.
Step 8
For the sauce: combine the milk, sugar, cocoa, and chocolate in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
Step 9
Cool to room temperature (the sauce should be liquid).
Step 10
Cut the cooled sponge cake into 16 cubes.
Step 11
Trim the edges thinly.
Step 12
Dip 4 sides in the sauce. Hold each side for 15 seconds or longer if you want it to soak better.

dip on all four sides in coconut flakes.
Step 15
Place on the bottom, lightly brush the top with sauce, and sprinkle with flakes.
