Description
Speculoos cookies are a type of spiced shortcrust biscuit traditionally baked for St. Nicholas' feast in Belgium and the Netherlands. Ingredients
- Butter 10 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Brown Sugar 10 oz
- Vanilla salt 0 oz
- Chicken Egg 2 pieces
- Wheat Flour 15 oz
- Activated Baking Soda 1 tablespoon
- Ground Cinnamon 2 spoons
- Nutmeg ½ spoons
- Ground clove ½ spoons
- White Pepper (whole) ¼ spoons
- Grated Ginger Root ¼ spoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Combine cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, white pepper, cardamom, and ginger.
Step 2
Mix the spices with the flour and baking soda.
Step 3
Beat the eggs, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla sugar.
Step 4
Add the butter and mix until smooth.
Step 5
Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and stir until the dough is smooth.
Step 6
The dough will be quite sticky. Wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for one hour.
Step 7
Take out the dough, roll it out into a sheet, and shape the cookies using cookie cutters. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the cookies on it. Refrigerate (or place in a cool area) for one hour.
Step 8
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 12 minutes.
Step 9
The finished cookies will be slightly soft. Remove them from the oven and let them cool completely.
