Ingredients
- Butter 0 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Chicken Egg 2 pieces
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Baking Powder 1½ spoons
- Lemon ½ pieces
- Milk 5 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cream the softened butter with the sugar, then beat this mixture with the eggs until it becomes fluffy.
Step 2
Sift the flour with the baking powder into the bowl with the butter mixture, then add the zest of half a lemon and warm milk. If you use cold milk, the sponge cake will not be moist. Mix the dough and pour it into a greased baking pan.
Step 3
Bake the sponge cake in an oven preheated to 345°F for 28-30 minutes. To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of the cake; if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
