Soft Savory Waffles with Kefir
Baking and Desserts • European
Description
Caloric content is 159 kcal per 100 grams. One waffle weighs about 55 grams. The number of waffles depends on the size of the waffle maker. I got 12 thick ones. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They become soft after a couple of hours. These waffles are not sweet, and can be served with both sweet toppings (syrup, jam, condensed milk) and savory options like cheese or pâté.
Ingredients
- 1% Kefir 15 fl oz
- Olive Oil 0 fl oz
- Chocolate eggs 2 pieces
- Sugar 2 tablespoons
- Ground Cinnamon ½ teaspoon
- Activated Baking Soda ¼ teaspoon
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
- Salt 0.1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a large bowl, mix the eggs well, then add the kefir, oil, sugar, cinnamon, and baking soda. Mix well.
Step 2
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt, and stir until large lumps disappear. There's no need to beat with a mixer; just mix with a spoon. The batter should be similar to pancake batter.
Step 3
Preheat the waffle maker and grease it with vegetable oil.
Step 4
Pour the batter into the center of each cavity and spread it a little, but not completely, as the batter will spread itself when the lid is pressed down.
Step 5
Cook the waffles according to the instructions for your waffle maker.
Step 6
Place the finished waffles on a heatproof plate and keep them in the oven at 210°F to stay warm while the next batch is cooking. Serve with syrup or other toppings.
