Shortcrust Pie with Homemade Jam
Baking and Desserts • European
Description
A simple recipe for a quick dry shortcrust pie; you can also make cookies from the same dough.
Ingredients
- Chicken Egg 4 pieces
- Butter 5 oz
- Wheat Flour 4 cups
- Jam 5 tablespoons
- Vegetable Oil 1 teaspoon
- Sugar 1 cup
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Beat 4 eggs with 1 cup of granulated sugar.
Step 2
Add the butter, cut into thin slices, and mash it a little with a spoon.
Step 3
Gradually add 1 cup of flour at a time, kneading the dough.
Step 4
Knead the dough by hand until it reaches a uniform consistency.
Step 5
Divide the dough into two pieces, making one piece slightly larger.
Step 6
Roll out a rectangular crust from the larger piece and place it on a baking sheet greased with vegetable oil.
Step 7
Spread any jam you like on top of the crust. Plum jam works best (the tart flavor pairs well with the sweet dough), but any other jam can be used. Leave a little space from the edge to prevent it from spilling onto the baking sheet.
Step 8
For the second piece of dough, you can either grate it on top or cut it into strips and place it over the pie.
Step 9
Place in a preheated oven at 390°F and bake for about 20 minutes until done. Cut into squares.
