Ingredients

  • Cinnamon a pinch
  • Cottage cheese 20 oz
  • Apple 0 lbs
  • Baking Powder 1 tablespoon
  • Margarine 5 oz
  • Sugar 1½ glasses
  • Wheat Flour 2 glasses
  • Sour Cream 5 oz
  • Chicken Egg 4 pieces

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

For the dough, beat 3 egg yolks (carefully separating them from the whites) with 0.5 cups of sugar, then mix with softened (not melted) margarine (or butter). Next, add flour and baking powder, knead the mixture by hand until you have a fairly thick dough. Finally, incorporate sour cream into the dough, shape it into a ball, cover it, and place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes while preparing the filling and preheating the oven.

Step 2

Mash the cottage cheese, mix it with 1/3 cup of sugar and 1 egg yolk (add the egg white to the remaining three).

Step 3

Peel the apples, remove the seeds, and slice them thinly (if you haven't rolled out the dough yet, it's better to sprinkle them with lemon juice or diluted citric acid to prevent browning; alternatively, you can slice them just before placing the pie in the oven).

Step 4

Roll out the dough fairly thinly on a large baking sheet, creating borders around the edges to prevent the cottage cheese from spilling out. Spread the cottage cheese filling evenly, then arrange beautiful slices of apple on top and sprinkle with cinnamon. Place in a preheated oven at 390°F for 30 to 40 minutes.

Step 5

While the pie is baking, beat the egg whites with the remaining sugar until stiff peaks form.

Step 6

Remove the slightly undercooked pie from the oven and spread the meringue evenly over the apples, smoothing it out. Return it to the hot oven. When the meringue sets with a light brown crust after a few minutes, the pie is ready!!!
