Description
A quintessential cake of Russian cuisine — semolina cake. The classic version is made with kefir, and that's the one we've included in our 'Golden Thousand.' Be sure to serve it with sour cream.
Ingredients
- Semolina 5 oz
- Kefir 10 fl oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Chicken Egg 3 pieces
- Butter 5 oz
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Activated Baking Soda 1 tablespoon
- Salt a pinch
- Sour Cream to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Pour the semolina with kefir, mix well, and let it soak for at least one hour, preferably two to three hours.
Step 3
Melt the butter.
Step 4
Beat the eggs with sugar and a pinch of salt.
Step 5
Add the butter to the eggs, continuing to whisk until smooth.
Step 6
Combine the semolina and egg mixtures, add the flour and baking soda, and mix with a mixer.
Step 7
Grease the baking dish with butter and dust it with semolina.
Step 8
Pour the dough into the mold and place it in an oven preheated to 375°F for 30 to 40 minutes.
Step 9
Allow the finished semolina pudding to sit for at least 10 minutes before serving. This is necessary for it to stabilize.
Step 10
Serve with sour cream.
