Salted Caramel Pie
Ingredients
- Butter 5 oz
- Shortcrust Cake Mix 20 oz
- Granny Smith apples 7 pieces
- Lemon 2 pieces
- Demerara Sugar ½ glasses
- Cream 22% 2 glasses
- Ground Nutmeg ¼ spoons
- Angostura ½ spoons
- Ground Cinnamon ¼ spoons
- Ground clove ¼ spoons
- Coarse Salt ¼ spoons
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Flower Salt ½ spoons
- Wheat Flour 2 spoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Roll out half of the dough into a circle and place it in a baking dish. Refrigerate for thirty minutes. Roll out the second half of the dough and trim the edges into a square. Cut it into 6 equal strips and refrigerate them as well.
Step 2
Mix the apple slices with 2 tablespoons of sugar and lemon juice. Let sit for an hour. In a separate container, combine 1 cup of sugar with ¼ cup of water and, without stirring, cook over medium heat for two minutes. Add the butter, bring to a boil, and cook for twenty-five minutes until it turns brown. Remove from heat and stir in the cream.
Step 3
Mix demerara sugar with flour, add Angostura bitters, spices, and apples, draining the juice. Stir well, transfer to a baking dish, and pour caramel over it. Sprinkle with flower salt. Create a lattice pattern on the surface using strips of dough, brush with beaten egg, and bake for one hour at 375°F.
