Description

Rum and Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients

  • Butter 5 oz
  • Wheat Flour 2 cups
  • Liquid dark chocolate 5 oz
  • Powdered Sugar 5 oz
  • Egg white 1 piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Dark rum 3 tablespoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Freeze the chocolate, then grate it finely. Place the grated chocolate back in the freezer.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix the flour, powdered sugar, and salt, then rub in the room temperature butter with your hands. Combine the resulting crumbs with the chocolate. Add the egg and rum, and knead into a smooth dough. If the dough remains uneven and crumbly, add 1–2 teaspoons of cold water or rum. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Pinch off small pieces of dough (about the size of a hazelnut) and roll them into thin sticks about the thickness of a pencil (4–5 mm) and 12–14 cm long. Take two sticks and twist them together. Form wreaths or pretzels from the twisted strands and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or greased with butter.

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 390°F (400 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake for 12–15 minutes. Remove the hot cookies from the baking sheet and let them cool.
