  • Wheat Flour ¾ cup
  • Vegetable Oil 6 cups
  • Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
  • Citrus Zest Mix 1 teaspoon
  • Ricotta cheese 1 cup
  • Sugar 2 tablespoons
  • Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
  • Vanilla extract 1½ teaspoons
  • Powdered Sugar to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Heat the vegetable oil in a pot to about 375°F.

Step 2

Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, lemon zest, and 0.25 teaspoons of salt.

Step 3

In another bowl, combine the ricotta, lightly beaten eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix with the dry ingredients. Stir well.

Step 4

Carefully drop 1 tablespoon of batter into the hot oil and fry in batches, turning until the donuts are golden brown, about 3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel and dust with powdered sugar.
