Description

A wonderful baked treat for cozy tea gatherings. The airy, golden dough unexpectedly meets the sweetness of raisins. For an extra twist, you can add a bit of lemon zest or a couple of teaspoons of rum.

  • Milk 10 fl oz
  • Butter 5 oz
  • Chicken Egg 3 pieces
  • Salt a pinch
  • Sugar 5 oz
  • Dry yeast 0 oz
  • Raisins 5 oz
  • Wheat Flour 25 oz

Combine warm milk with yeast, a tablespoon of sugar, and five tablespoons of flour. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.

Using a mixer, combine 2 eggs with salt, the remaining sugar, and butter.

Combine the egg mixture with the yeast dough and mix well.

Gradually incorporate the remaining flour. The dough should be elastic and pull away from the sides of the mixing bowl.

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and place it in a warm spot for 1.5 hours.

Rinse the raisins, pat them dry with a paper towel, and toss them with a teaspoon of flour.

Roll out a portion of the dough into a log, then cut it in half lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through on one side.

Transfer the rolls to a baking sheet, cover them with a towel, and place them in a warm spot for another 30 minutes.

Mix the remaining egg with a tablespoon of water, brush the rolls with the mixture, and place them in an oven preheated to 355°F for 20–25 minutes. Allow the baked rolls to cool.
