Description
Quince and Mandarin Jam
Ingredients
- Quince 0 lbs
- Mandarins 20 oz
- Sugar 20 oz
- Water 5 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Wash the quince thoroughly under running water, cut it into four parts, and remove the core.
Step 3
Cut the prepared quince into wedges.
Step 4
Place the sliced quince in a pot where the jam will be cooked.
Step 5
Add sugar to the pot with quince. Mix the sugar well with the quince and let it sit for an hour at room temperature to allow the quince to release its juice.
Step 6
Wash the jars thoroughly with baking soda and sterilize them using a convenient method.
Step 7
If the quince has released too little juice, add about 100 ml of water. Place the pot with quince on the stove, bring to a boil, and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Allow the jam to cool at room temperature. Repeat the boiling process two more times.
Step 8
Peel the mandarins. It is better to use small seedless mandarins. If the mandarins have seeds, they need to be removed.
Step 9
Add the prepared mandarins to the pot with quince, bring to a boil, and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Allow the jam to cool at room temperature and repeat the boiling process once more.
Step 10
Pour the hot quince and mandarin jam into clean, dry jars. Seal the jars with metal lids. Allow to cool at room temperature. Store in a cool place.
