Description
Quince and Apple Jam
Ingredients
- Quince 0 lbs
- Apple 20 oz
- Sugar 25 oz
- Ground Cinnamon to taste
- Water 5 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Wash the quince thoroughly under running water, cut into four parts, and remove the core.
Step 3
Slice the prepared quince into wedges.
Step 4
Place the sliced quince into a pot where the jam will be cooked.
Step 5
Add sugar to the pot with the quince.
Step 6
Mix the sugar with the quince well and let it sit for an hour at room temperature to allow the quince to release its juice.
Step 7
Wash the jars thoroughly with baking soda and sterilize them using a convenient method.
Step 8
If the quince has released too little juice, add about 100 ml of water. Place the pot with the quince on the stove, bring to a boil, and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Allow the jam to cool at room temperature. Repeat the boiling process two more times.
Step 9
Remove the cores from the apples and cut them into medium-sized wedges.
Step 10
Add the sliced apples to the pot with the quince, bring to a boil, and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Allow the jam to cool at room temperature.
Step 11
Bring the quince jam to a boil 5 times (the second time with the apples), add ground cinnamon to taste, and simmer for about 15–20 minutes.
Step 12
Pour the hot quince and apple jam into clean, dry jars. Seal or cap the jars with a metal lid. Allow to cool at room temperature. Store in a cool place.
