Quick Bread with Figs and Hazelnuts
Ingredients
- Hazelnut 0 oz
- Orange juice concentrate ¾ cup
- Green Figs 5 oz
- Sugar ½ cup
- Orange zest 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable Oil 2 tablespoons
- Egg white 1 piece
- Wheat Flour 1½ cups
- Egg white 1 piece
- Salt ¼ teaspoon
- Activated Baking Soda 1½ teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 355°F.
Step 2
Spread the nuts on a baking sheet and place in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to a towel and shake to remove the skins. Chop the nuts finely.
Step 3
Bring the orange juice to a boil. Chop the figs finely and place them in a bowl. Pour the hot juice over them and let sit for 15 minutes.
Step 4
In a bowl, mix together the sugar, vegetable oil, egg, egg white, and figs with juice.
Step 5
In a large bowl, sift the flour, add the baking soda and salt. Mix well and make a well in the center. Pour in the fig mixture and knead the dough.
Step 6
Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan, smooth the top, and sprinkle with nuts. Bake for 45 minutes until done. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a plate.
