Quick Apple Strudel with Lavash
Baking and Desserts • German
Description
Strudel, as we know, is a type of roll — so why not take advantage of ready-made lavash? An important detail: when preparing, first choose suitable apples that are crisp and juicy, find some delicious and preferably fresh walnuts, and also take the selection of raisins seriously — they should have a pleasant tartness.
Ingredients
- Armenian Lavash 1 piece
- Shelled pumpkin seeds 5 oz
- Raisins 5 oz
- Apple 3 pieces
- 33% Cream 5 fl oz
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Ground Cinnamon 1 tablespoon
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Powdered Sugar 2 spoons
- Butter 2 spoons
- Vanilla salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Soak the raisins in hot water for 15–20 minutes. Place half of the nuts in a blender and grind them into flour. Chop the remaining nuts into small pieces.
Step 2
Finely chop the apples. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and grease the paper with oil.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Melt butter in a large skillet, add the apples, and sauté for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Drain the raisins in a sieve and add them to the apples along with the cinnamon and nuts (both ground and chopped). Cover with a lid and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove the lid, and allow the filling to cool slightly.
Step 5
Mix the cream with the egg until smooth (you can add vanilla). Fold 2/3 of the cream mixture into the slightly cooled filling and stir.
Step 6
Lay the lavash flat on the table. Spread the filling, leaving a 1–2 inch margin from the short edges and a ¾ inch margin from the long edges.
Step 7
Fold the short edges inward and roll the dough along the long side. Place the roll seam side down on a baking sheet and brush it with the remaining cream mixture. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes.
Step 8
Sprinkle the slightly cooled finished strudel with powdered sugar.
