Ingredients

  • Poppy seed paste 10 oz
  • Puff Pastry 1 piece
  • Milk 5 fl oz
  • Honey 3 spoons
  • Sugar 3 spoons
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Whole egg 1 piece

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Place the poppy seeds in a saucepan, cover with boiling water, and let sit for 20–30 minutes.

Step 2

Drain the water. Place the saucepan with the poppy seeds over heat and allow any remaining water to evaporate.

Step 3

Add honey, sugar, and milk to the poppy seeds. Cook the poppy seeds over low heat until the liquid evaporates, about 40 minutes. Add butter and simmer for another 5 minutes. Allow the poppy seed mixture to cool.

Step 4

Roll out the prepared puff pastry. Spread the filling on the pastry and roll it up into a log.

Step 5

Beat the egg yolk and brush it over the roll.

Step 6

Place the roll in a preheated oven at 355°F for 30-40 minutes. You can check if the roll is ready by inserting a toothpick into it. If there is no dough left on the toothpick, the roll is done.
