Description
Fresh yeast can be replaced with 2 tablespoons of dry yeast.
Ingredients
- Margarine 20 oz
- Milk 1½ cups
- Salt to taste
- Wheat Flour 5 cups
- Sugar 1 cup
- Dry yeast 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Melt the margarine and let it cool.
Step 2
Dissolve the yeast with 1 tablespoon of sugar in warm milk.
Step 3
Combine the melted margarine and dissolved yeast, add salt. Gradually add the flour. The dough should be soft.
Step 4
Place the dough in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 5
Roll out the dough, sprinkle with sugar, and roll the sugar into the dough. Fold in half, sprinkle with sugar, and roll the sugar in again. Repeat several times. The more layers, the tastier the cookies will be.
Step 6
Roll out a large circle. Sprinkle with sugar. Cut into diamonds with a patterned pastry cutter or a regular knife. Let rise for 30 minutes.
Step 7
Bake for 30 minutes at 355°F until golden brown.
