Description
Profiteroles are delightful cream puffs filled with sweet or savory fillings, often served with a drizzle of chocolate or a dusting of powdered sugar. These airy pastries can be found in many bakeries and restaurants across the country, making them a popular choice for dessert or a special treat.
Ingredients
- Butter 5 oz
- Water 10 fl oz
- Chicken Egg 4 pieces
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Salt a pinch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add water and bring to a boil.
Step 2
Add the flour and a pinch of salt. Cook the dough, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon, until it pulls away from the sides of the saucepan.
Step 3
Transfer the dough to the mixing bowl and let it cool for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Add the eggs one at a time to the cooled dough. Before adding the next egg, it is important to ensure that the previous one is fully incorporated.
Step 5
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Use a teaspoon to place 15 portions of dough on each baking sheet.
Step 6
Bake the profiteroles at 200°C in convection mode (with fan). They will be ready in 18-20 minutes when they rise and turn golden brown.
Step 7
Remove the profiteroles from the oven and make a small slit in each one to let out the steam. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
Step 8
The finished profiteroles can be filled with either sweet or savory fillings. They can be stored in a sealed container in a cool place for 2–3 days or in the freezer for up to 7 days.
