Description

Pretzel with Cinnamon and Nuts

Ingredients

  • Salt a pinch
  • Sugar 5 oz
  • Wheat Flour 20 oz
  • Vegetable Oil 5 tablespoons
  • Dry yeast 0 oz
  • Cinnamon 0 oz
  • Walnuts 0 oz
  • Water 10 fl oz
  • Vanilla salt 1 teaspoon

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Mix water with yeast, sugar, salt, a tablespoon of vegetable oil, and about 2/3 of a cup of flour. Whisk until you achieve a consistency similar to sour cream.

Step 2

Add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil and whisk again until smooth.

Step 3

Add sifted flour (enough for the dough — about 2 to 2.5 cups) and knead a non-sticky dough.

Step 4

Grease a metal pot/bowl with vegetable oil, transfer the dough into it, cover with a towel, and leave in a warm place for 2 hours. I usually place it on the stove near a turned-on burner.

Step 5

After the time has passed, transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead, sprinkling with flour.

Step 6

Roll the dough into a rectangular sheet, approximately 45x30 cm.

Step 7

Grease with vegetable oil, sprinkle with a pre-mixed combination of cinnamon and sugar, and chopped walnuts.

Step 8

Roll the dough into a tight log.

Step 9

Make a cut down the center, leaving one side of the log intact for about 5 cm.

Step 10

Twist the halves into a braid, slightly turning the cinnamon side outward.

Step 11

Then shape the braid into a ring.

Step 12

Transfer the ring onto a baking sheet (lined with parchment paper).

Step 13

Bake in a preheated oven at 160–355°F for no longer than 35–40 minutes.
