Ingredients
- Chicken Egg 4 pieces
- Sugar 1 glass
- Butter 5 oz
- Poppy seed paste 5 oz
- Baking Powder 1 tablespoon
- Wheat Flour 1 glass
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Boil the poppy seeds for 5 minutes and let them swell in boiling water, covered, for 20 minutes. Strain through a sieve. Whisk the egg yolks with sugar and butter, then add the poppy seeds and flour with baking powder. Optionally, you can add nuts and raisins.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, then gently fold them into the batter. Pour the batter into a greased mold and bake the poppy seed cake for 30–40 minutes at 355°F. Allow to cool before serving.
