Plum Cake with Marzipan
Ingredients
- Butter 5 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Salt a pinch
- Rum 1 tablespoon
- Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Chopped almonds 5 oz
- Marzipan 5 oz
- Plums 10 oz
- Powdered Sugar 3 teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
For the dough, beat the sugar, butter, salt, and rum until the sugar is completely dissolved. Gradually mix the mixture with the eggs. Quickly mix with the flour, baking powder, and almonds.
Step 2
Grease a baking pan (20 cm diameter) with fat and sprinkle with flour. Spread half of the dough and level it. Roll out the marzipan on powdered sugar to the size of the pan and place it on the dough. Spread the remaining dough on top.
Step 3
Wash the plums, cut them in half, and remove the pits. Arrange the fruits tightly together in a circle on the dough.
Step 4
Bake for 50–60 minutes at 355°F. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and detach the edges from the pan. Allow the plum cake to cool completely. Before serving, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
