Ingredients

  • Butter 5 oz
  • 20% Sour Cream 5 oz
  • Wheat Flour 4 cups
  • Dry yeast 0 oz
  • Salt ½ teaspoon
  • Sugar 1½ tablespoons
  • White Cabbage 25 oz
  • Chocolate eggs 3 pieces
  • Whole egg 1 piece

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Mix the yeast into the sour cream, then add salt and sugar, followed by softened butter at room temperature. Add flour and knead the dough by hand.

Step 2

Shape the dough into a ball, poke five holes in it with your finger for air. Place the dough in the refrigerator, loosely covered with a plate, for one and a half to two hours. You can divide it into two equal parts right away.

Step 3

Meanwhile, finely chop the cabbage and sauté it in butter until golden brown. Boil the eggs hard, chop them, and mix with the cabbage.

Step 4

Roll out the dough on a floured surface — the bottom layer should be a bit thicker, and the top layer thinner. Grease a baking sheet with butter, place the top layer, then the filling, and cover it with a second layer of dough, pressing the edges lightly with your fingers.

Step 5

Beat the yolk with a fork and brush the surface of the pie. Bake in a preheated oven at 390°F until the crust turns dark golden.

Step 6

For a sweet filling pie, it’s better to add two to three tablespoons of sugar to the dough. Possible filling options include: poppy seeds (boil with sugar, then roll the dough into a log), apples (finely chopped and sprinkled with sugar), candied fruits (soak lemon and orange peels in water for a day and grind with sugar).
