Pho Bo Soup
Ingredients
- Beef 0 lbs
- Spanish onions 1 head
- Grated Ginger Root 1 piece
- Star anise 2 pieces
- Ground clove 6 pieces
- Cinnamon 2 pieces
- Fish Oil 4 tablespoons
- Sugar 1 teaspoon
- Udon Noodles 10 oz
- Mint 1 bunch
- Garlic 1 head
- Vinegar essence 0 fl oz
- Peanut Sprouts 5 oz
- Scallions 1 bunch
- Basil 1 bunch
- Meyer Lemon Juice to taste
- Salt to taste
- Sodium glutamate a pinch
- Spanish onions 1 head
- Pickled garlic 0 oz
- Lemon to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Rinse the beef bones well under running water and place them in a deep pot.
Step 2
Peel the ginger root and cut it in half.
Step 3
Singe the ginger halves with a flame using a torch.
Step 4
Peel the red onion and cut it in half as well.
Step 5
Lightly singe it with a flame.
Step 6
Add the ginger to the pot.
Step 7
Also add the red onion.
Step 8
Pour in enough water depending on your pot size and boil until the meat is cooked.
Step 9
Separate the garlic head into cloves and cut them in half.
Step 10
Pour in 9% vinegar and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Step 11
Place the pho noodles in a deep container, pour boiling water over them, and soak for 15–20 minutes.
Step 12
Turn off the broth, remove the cooked meat, onion, and ginger. Then add the cinnamon, star anise, and cloves and put it back on the heat.
Step 13
The most important ingredient of pho bo soup is fish sauce, which gives the broth a special flavor. Therefore, you can add more or less depending on your taste preferences. At this stage, also add salt, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and a pinch of monosodium glutamate.

Carefully slice the cooked meat.
Step 15
Thoroughly rinse all the herbs.

Slice the white onion into thin rings.
Step 17
In a bowl, arrange the noodles, meat, onion, soybean sprouts, herbs, pour over the broth, and drizzle with lemon juice on top.
Step 18
Garnish the finished dish with pickled garlic and a piece of lemon.
