Ingredients
- Milk 10 fl oz
- Light Molasses 10 oz
- Light Molasses 10 oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Brown Sugar 0 oz
- Wheat Flour 20 oz
- Activated Baking Soda ½ teaspoon
- Grated Ginger Root 1¼ teaspoons
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Oat flakes 15 oz
- Sugar Glaze to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the butter into cubes. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 20 cm (8 inch) square baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a small saucepan, gently heat the mixture of milk, butter, and sugar, stirring constantly. Do not boil. Combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, and oat flakes.
Step 3
Make a well in the center, pour in the egg, then gradually add the sweet mixture, stirring from the center to the edges. Mix until smooth.
Step 4
Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 45 minutes. Allow to cool slightly in the pan. Cut into squares and drizzle with glaze.
