Description
Orange Shortbread Cookies
Ingredients
- Oranges 3 pieces
- Orange juice concentrate 0 fl oz
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Powdered Sugar 5 oz
- Salt a pinch
- Sugar 5 oz
- Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
- Corn Starch 0 oz
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Butter 5 oz
- Ground Cinnamon a pinch
- Orange Syrup 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the butter into small pieces and let it soften.
Step 2
Mix the flour, powdered sugar (120 g), cinnamon, salt, cornstarch, and baking powder.
Step 3
Grate the zest from the oranges, mix it with the dry ingredients, add to the softened butter, and rub the mixture with your hands until it resembles sand.
Step 4
Add the egg, orange extract, and orange juice. Knead the dough; it should be soft, not sticky, and easy to shape.
Step 5
Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 20 minutes or freeze for 10 minutes.
Step 6
Place powdered sugar (80 g) and sugar in two bowls.
Step 7
Roll the dough into balls weighing 30 grams each, first coat them in sugar, then in powdered sugar, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, gently pressing down and adding more powdered sugar if it falls off during the process. The cookies will expand slightly, so space them about 2 cm apart.
Step 8
Bake at 355°F for 20–25 minutes.
