Ingredients
- Poppy seed paste 0 oz
- Milk 5 fl oz
- Raw cane sugar 10 oz
- Self-rising flour 10 oz
- Chicken Egg 3 pieces
- Butter 5 oz
- Orange zest 1½ spoons
- Powdered Sugar 10 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 355°F. Grease a bundt cake pan with butter.
Step 2
Mix the poppy seeds with warm milk and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Combine the sugar, eggs, flour, 185 grams of butter, and 3 teaspoons of zest in a bowl. Add the milk with poppy seeds and mix with a mixer on low speed. Increase to medium speed and beat for another 3 minutes.
Step 4
Transfer the dough to the baking dish and bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Leave in the dish for 5 minutes, then turn it out onto a plate.
Step 5
To make the glaze, soften the remaining butter and mix it with the powdered sugar, the remaining zest, and 3 tablespoons of hot water. Stir well and spread it over the cake.
