Description

A pie in the French style

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour 1½ glasses
  • Butter 5 oz
  • Leek 5 oz
  • Cheese Spread 5 oz
  • Milk 5 fl oz
  • Chicken Egg 2 pieces
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Pour the flour into a small bowl, add salt and diced butter. Mix the ingredients with your hands until you achieve a uniform consistency.

Step 2

Add 6-7 tablespoons of water to the resulting dough, knead it, and roll it out into a thin layer on a floured surface.

Step 3

Place the dough in a fireproof dish (3 cm deep and about 20 cm in diameter). Press the dough down to the bottom and sides, trimming off any excess from the edges. (If you have a lot of excess dough, you can make another pie in a small dish.)

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 390°F, so make sure to turn it on in advance and start preparing the filling. To do this, melt butter in a small skillet and sauté the leeks for 5 minutes. The leeks should become soft but not browned. In a bowl, mix with diced cheese (Stilton cheese works great, but you can substitute it with another type). Pour the mixture into the pastry shell.

Step 5

Beat the eggs with the milk. Add salt and pepper. Pour the mixture over the pie and place it in the oven.

Step 6

Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown. Allow to cool, cut into triangles, and serve with a green salad.
