Onion Pie with Puff Pastry
Ingredients
- Onion 4 heads
- Puff Pastry 15 oz
- Chicken Egg 2 pieces
- Salt to taste
- Green peppercorns to taste
- Sliced Processed Cheese 5 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Divide the puff pastry into two equal parts, roll it out, and place one layer on a baking sheet.
Step 2
Slice the onions into half-rings, sauté in vegetable oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 3
While the onions are frying, prepare the sauce. Beat the eggs, add grated processed cheese, mix everything, and season if desired.
Step 4
Place the sautéed onions on the pastry in the baking sheet, pour the sauce over it, and optionally add a bit of mayonnaise or cream. Cover the filling with the second layer of pastry, make a few holes in the pie with a fork, and place it in a preheated oven for 15–20 minutes.
Step 5
The dish can be served hot or cold.
