Description

Oven preparation method: grease a baking tray with butter and place it in the oven. The heat should not be too strong; bake for about 20-25 minutes. The oats can be mixed with bran. I used oatmeal with wheat bran. Instead of or along with prunes, you can add any other dried fruits. You can also vary the nuts by adding a mix of different kinds, or include seeds, sesame, or poppy seeds with the nuts.

Ingredients

  • Prunes 5 oz
  • Walnuts 0 oz
  • Oat flakes 2 glasses
  • Honey to taste
  • Water 2 spoons

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Finely chop the prunes, crush the nuts in a mortar, and toast the oatmeal in a dry skillet for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Combine the oats, nuts, and prunes, and gradually add a little boiled hot water, one tablespoon at a time. The mixture should become moist, thick, and sticky, but not wet. Add honey and mix well.

Step 3

In a skillet greased with olive oil, spread the oat mixture, flatten it out, and press it down slightly. It should not fall apart or spread out; the mixture should be sticky and dense. If it starts to spread, add more oats.

Step 4

Place the frying pan on the lowest heat, preferably on a diffuser. Cover with a lid and cook for about 7-10 minutes on each side. The compressed mixture should brown and stick together even more, but be careful not to let it burn.

Step 5

To brown the other side, place a plate on the skillet, then carefully flip the skillet over so that the pressed mixture lands on the plate with the browned side facing up. Now, gently slide the oatmeal-nut mixture back onto the skillet. This will allow the second side to brown.

Step 6

Allow the prepared mixture to cool in the frying pan and then cut it into squares.
