Description

Many recipe authors of Japanese cuisine overlook the principle of 'Sa-Shi-Su-Se-So' (sugar, salt, vinegar, soy sauce, and miso) — the 5 basic flavors of traditional Japanese cooking and their proper use. Don't forget about sugar! It is just as important as miso.

Ingredients

  • Dashi powder 1 teaspoon
  • Soy Sauce 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Miso Paste 1 teaspoon
  • Wakame Seaweed 1 tablespoon
  • Tofu 1 tablespoon
  • Water 1 cup

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Chop the dried seaweed into pieces of 1–2 cm or cut with scissors.

Step 2

Cut the tofu into cubes.

Step 3

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and pour in a cup of boiling water. Stir the miso paste until fully dissolved.

Step 4

Cover with a lid and wait for 5 minutes.

Step 5
